Plantae homunculae

Hello, and welcome to the page for Plantae homunculae. With a feverfew growing out of its head and echinacea growing out of its chest, this poor being contemplates the balance between medicinal plants' potential to heal, and the potential to destroy.
Echinacea, also known as coneflower, has historically been used to treat a variety of illnesses. However, one most Americans are familiar with are their usage in cough drops. Echinacea provides relief to the upper respiratory tract during infections.

Feverfew is a plant in the daisy family that have multiple compounds that have allowed it to be traditionally used for a variety of ailments. 30 types of sesquiterpene lactones have been identified, which are a group of chemicals that are the source of many drugs, such as the anti-malarial drug artemisinin. Extracts from the plant seem to also have pain relieving, anti-inflammatory, and fever-reducing properties.
